Inside Out

The Inside Out project was a 3-year Interior Design studio sponsored by the Angelo Donghia Foundation supporting small, independently owned Los Angeles businesses. Identifying and celebrating the unique characteristics and personalities of the interiors of these businesses, the spaces are turned “Inside Out” onto the street, creating new and inspiring outdoor spaces and activating a revolutionary post-covid urban experience.  The project was created by Lara Hoad AIA and Todd Erlandson FAIA, architects and faculty members at Woodbury University's School of Architecture and focused on three diverse neighborhoods from 2021-2023. The final year included a collaboration with LADOT based on outcomes from the student's projects working with restaurants in the West Adams neighborhood, creatively interpreting the LA Al Fresco permanent program guidelines defined by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
